Sunday thoughts. ☪️

IMG_3327Well I’m still going strong on “Dry January!” Last night at about 9PM my husband said “Let’s watch a movie, have some snacks and put a dent in the La Croix tonight!” 😂 And that we did….I’ve got multiple flavors in the fridge. It is really nice to have great support on a Sat night like that, makes it a ton easier not to think about alcohol.

I have been re-evaluating my bedtime routine also. Even before alcohol, I have never been able to stay asleep at night. I wake multiple times from every hour to some nights every half an hour. Some nights I cannot get back to sleep. It’s been this way for years. I simply cannot shut my brain off for the next day. Doctor prescribed me Ambien and it does wonders. I sleep for 5 hours almost guaranteed straight. Anyway, now that I have changed my bedtime to reading and low lights and all that recommended jazz, I want to slowly get so maybe I don’t take Ambien every night anymore. I have tried Melatonin several times and even a teeny tiny dosage gives me horrible and I mean horrible, scary dreams. Melatonin is not for me.

I decided yesterday since I woke up at 6am and was getting to bed about midnight, I’d try and not to take it. I woke up about every hour. I did go back to sleep fairly quickly thankfully. I had a couple dreams, but not bad ones. Thinking of trying essential oils in one of those diffuser things next. Maybe lavender?

Anywho, I’m off to get some groceries for the week! Have a good Sunday everyone!

PS-What a rambling blog! 🤷‍♀️ PSS-This is  me last night making chicken wing pizza before our movie. 😋🍕

Good luck with working on the sleep. I need to work on not sleeping quite so much 😂
Well done you, you are doing brilliantly. Xxx

  2. Sleep is an issue when you get to my age, old, too!
    LOL
But I do sleep so much better off alcohol!
It took awhile for my body to adjust, however.
I was also on Ambien, and I had to adjust to that as well.
I actually went to a sleep psychologist, which was the best thing ever.

    • Thanks for the information, Wendy! I woke up this morning at 3:30am and fell back asleep until my alarm at 5:15am. I woke up dreaming I was saving a snapping turtle. LOL!!!! I mean I am a big animal lover but not sure in real life holding and petting an adult snapping turtle and having it drink out of a bottle is really going to happen. LOL!!!

i always say, i could write a book about sleep issues..haha..i believe in 40 plus years i have tried everything under the sun and some under the moon…after each solution goes sour ( like i i build up a tolerance or body chemistry changes or increased stressors) i just go through a period of ” f*ck it” and accept that i will never sleep well….until i can’t take it anymore…then back to trying different things..vicious cycle! Good luck with it- most people eventually find relief, especially in recovery..namaste!

Hey Jackie😊. Just wanted to congratulate you for dry January! I’ve been catching up reading your progress and wanted to say great job😎. It’s a trip learning how much we lean on alcohol and like you said in one post there’s really something going on within behind that. Keep going strong my beautiful friend and I love your art/tattoos❤️. * no words of advice on sleeping I’m in the same camp as you🙁

    • Thanks so much Dwight! I feel really great after 30 days of no alcohol too! I was starting to get a “bloaty” look, especially in my face. I’m super happy you are back!! 😀 😀
Thank you for the tattoo’s compliment! They are really a part of who I am. ❤
